Na het winnen van de prijsvraag in 2013 heeft Michiel Clercx Architectuur samen met Treurniet Architectuur en de Ethiopische bureaus Addis Mebratu & S7 Architects medio 2014 officieel opdracht gekregen voor het ontwerp van het nieuwe parlementsgebouw in Ethiopië. Uit het jury rapport :“The jury is determined to defend the 1st prize winner to realization as it believes that this project is a total asset to our country. After realizing this project, it would not only be the feat of the client and the designer but also that of Ethiopia as a nation. It can easily be predicted that both the government and the public will take great pride in the happening“.De prijsvraag was uitgeschreven door the Parliament of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) – House of Federation and House of Peoples Representatives. Het omvangrijke project beslaat een oppervlakte van ca. 40.000m2. Naast adviseurs uit Ethiopië is Arup gevraagd voor deeladviezen over o.a. constructie, akoestiek en duurzaamheid. Ontwerp van de buitenruimte zal worden verzorgd door MTD Landschapsarchitecten uit Den Bosch. Medio 2018 is het voorlopig ontwerp goedgekeurd. De verwachting is dat het definitief ontwerp in 2019 gereed zal zijn.
